Intergenerational Mediation
In the hustle and bustle of daily life—managing work, the cost of living, and everyday stress—it’s easy for small tensions within our families to slowly build up. These tensions can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, especially between different generations. Whether it’s between children and parents, grandparents, cousins, or other adult relatives, these conflicts can be difficult to navigate alone.
When family conflicts become too challenging to resolve on your own, our mediation service can provide a path forward. We specialise in helping parents, carers, and children over 12 years old address disagreements and disputes. Our neutral mediators facilitate open communication, ensuring that everyone’s perspective is heard, and assist in finding solutions that foster a more harmonious family environment.
We understand that every family is unique, and so are the challenges you face, we can assist with a variety of issues, including:
- Behavioural disagreements: Navigating differences in expectations and discipline.
- Lifestyle choices: Addressing conflicting values and habits.
- Living arrangements: Finding the right balance in shared spaces.
- Social media usage: Managing the impact of online activities on family dynamics.
- Care for elderly or vulnerable relatives: Ensuring that your loved ones receive the care and attention they need.
We’re here to support you every step of the way, with the goal of restoring harmony and strengthening family bonds.

How does intergenerational mediation work?
Contact Us
- Contact us by telephone, email or through our contact form.
- We will speak to you to understand the situation, your expectations and the suitability of mediation.
- We will then contact the other family members who need to join the mediation. We will explain what mediation is and outline the process. If everyone is willing to proceed, we will allocate two of our impartial mediators who will then take over.
Mediation Meetings
- Initially, our mediators will speak with each family member individually, to find out more about the situation.
- Once these discussions have been completed then a joint meeting with all participants will be arranged, this can last a few hours depending upon how much needs to be discussed. They would usually be held in person at a neutral venue.
- At the meeting, each family member will be given an opportunity to speak and express their views openly.
- The mediators will facilitate the conversation and guide you towards finding solutions.
- Once you come to some conclusions through discussions, the mediators will help you work out how to make your plan work, day to day.
- After the session, we will write up a summary of what was agreed and sent it to each family member.
Post-mediation
- We will contact you four weeks after the joint meeting to check how things are going. If necessary, we can arrange a further session of mediation or support coaching.
